Special Announcement from the Athletic Department. Congratulations to our following Athletes of the month for the month of MAY
Kara Howard: Kara’s steady glove at first base and ability to help out her teammates by pulling balls out of the dirt coupled with her bat that drove in 19 runs for the Panthers was a huge part of our success this softball season.
Bryn Milne: Bryn Milne’s all around speed was a huge factor in the Portville Panther’s success this season. She led the teams in stolen bases which was a direct contributor to her being the teams leader in runs scored as well. Her speed was not just abundantly clear on the base paths but also in the field. Bryn’s ability to get down the line on a bunt or to get to a hard shot up the third base line helped keep runs from scoring on the defensive end of things. Her solid play on both sides of the field was large part of our success this season.
Jill Hlasnick: Jill’s glove and impressive backhand made some of the most remarkable plays in high school softball this month. She made plays in the field that kept us in games and her defensive endeavors were key to our success this season. Jill was no slouch at the plate as she was in the top 3 for on base percentage as our leadoff hitter batting with a .348 batting average, driving in 16 runs, and scoring 27 herself for the lady panthers this season.
Alexis Aloi – Finished in 3rd place in the CCAA championships in the 100 meter hurdles. Is the only girl to qualify for the sectional meet in a running event. Is the only girl that qualified for the Super 8 meet in Salamanca and finished in 7th place. She has been dependable and a true leader by example this season for the girls and boys teams.
Devin Hall – Has been a dependable worker for the boys team all season. Devin will run in any event that we ask him to. He comes to work every day and practices hard. He is a member of a Super 8 qualifying 3200 meter relay team, finishing in 5th place. The same relay team has also qualified for the Section 6 championships.
Zayne Tarr- Zayne finished the season with his 4 lowest scores, while shooting his personal best, a 49 in his last match of the year. He also was chosen to play in the 3man tournament this year at Gowanda Country Club. Nice job Zayne!
Noah Kellog- As a 7th grader, Noah was one of our top 6 golfers on the team. He played in most of the matches this past season. He shot a 53 at home vs Allegany and Franklinville, which helped us sweep Franklinville this season. Well done Noah!
Adam Wray -
Adam torched opponents during the month of May to the tune of a 433 average with 6 doubles, 7 RBIs, and 6 runs scored. On the mound, Adam fashioned a 2.50 ERA with 21 strikeouts and only 2 walks.
Nathan Kloc -
On the mound, Nathan went 1 and 0 with 18 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched. Offensively, Nathan hit 300, had a 450 on base percentage, and scored 12 runs while playing solid defense at shortstop.
Congratulations athletes! Please see Mrs. Colligan today for your shirt.
Happy Birthday to Andrew DeArmitt from your best friend Merrick!
